The following is a synopsis of our monthly meetings. Our meetings are held on the first Monday of every month -- currently at Barley's Brewhaus in Shawnee.

January, 2011 -- Legislative Preview
State Rep. Kelly Meigs, State Rep. Owen Donohoe, and State Rep. Brett Hildabrand spoke about the upcoming legislative session. Mike Pirner spoke on behalf of Mary Pilcher Cook and John Rubin.

December, 2010 -- Bill Lacy -- The Voters Have Spoken, Now What?
Bill Lacy spoke to a joint meeting of the Northwest Johnson County Republicans and Conservative Republicans of Southern Johnson County, talking about the election results and the road forward.

December, 2010 -- Reorganizational Meeting
Our officers team was re-elected and five board members appointed.

October, 2010 -- Derek Schmidt
Senator Derek Schmidt discussed his campaign for Attorney General.

September, 2010 -- Kevin Yoder
Kevin Yoder discussed his campaign for Congress.

August, 2010 -- State Rep. Nominees
We welcomed Anthony Brown, John Rubin, Owen Donohoe, Kelly Meigs, and Brett Hildabrand. All were endorsed by the Northwest Johnson County Republicans.

June, 2010 -- Endorsements
The Northwest Johnson County Republicans endorsed Kelly Meigs, Jason Osterhaus, Kris Kobach, David Powell and Todd Tiahrt.

May, 2010 -- Townhall with Todd Tiahrt
The Northwest Johnson County Republicans welcomed Todd Tiahrt in a forum that included Ron Estes and David Powell.

April, 2010 -- Jeff Glendening
We welcomed Jeff Glendening from the Kansas Chamber.

March, 2010 -- Local Candidate Night
The Northwest Johnson County Republicans welcomed the candidates for the Shawnee City Council, and endorsed Michelle Distler, Kevin Straub, Dan Pflumm, and Frank Goode.

February, 2010 -- Kris Kobach
Kris Kobach discussed his campaign for Secretary of State.

January, 2010 -- State Senator Mary Pilcher Cook & State Representative Anthony Brown
Anthony and Mary delivered their legislative previews for the upcoming session.

November, 2009 -- Conservative Showcase of Northwest Johnson County
Several federal, state and local candidates and grassroots organizations had booths at this first event. Thanks to the more than 100 people who attended!

August, 2009 -- Joint Forum with the Olathe Republican Party
Mary Pilcher Cook, Lance Kinzer, Judy Smith, Derrick Sontag, and Dave Trabert participated in this packed forum co-sponsored by the NWJCR and the Olathe Republican Party. The subject was "Promoting Conservative Principles in an Obama Nation."

May, 2009 -- the Role of the KBHE
We heard an informative presentation from Jack Confer, Executive Director of the Kansas Board of Healing Arts. He described the role of the KBHE, including who they oversee, procedures, and the process of complaints.

April, 2009 -- Life in Kansas
We heard a great presentation from several individuals, including Mary Kay Culp with Kansans for Life, Michelle Armesto and Laurie Hermesch, who experienced first hand late-term abortion laws not being enforced, and State Senator Mary Pilcher Cook and State Reprsentative Lance Kinzer, who gave an update as to the progress of life issues in the state legislature.

March, 2009 -- Local Elections
We heard from several local candidates running in the Spring General Election -- Kevin Straub, running for the De Soto School Board; Ben Hodge, running for JCCC Trustee; and John Kanaga, running for JCCC Trustee. Mary Pilcher Cook also provided a legislative update.

February, 2009 -- Proposition K
We heard from Dave Trabert with the Flint Hills Center for Public Policy on Proposition K, a proposal to reform property taxes in Kansas. State Senator Mary Pilcher Cook also discussed it's prospects in the Kansas Legislature. Audrey Snyder was also elected Secretary.

January, 2009 -- General meeting
We had a brief meeting to formally approve executive board members and advisory board members nominated by Chair Mike Pirner.
